The Academy:  Under the direction of a specialist in teen learning, Congregation Kol Ami is proud to participate in this program in partnership with Congregation Beth Am. The program is dedicated to continuing Jewish education with exciting programs and thought-provoking discussions.  Rabbis from both congregations assist in the teaching of this class.  The Academy is open to all students in Grades 8-12 (our 10^th Graders take an additional class in order to participate in our Confirmation Program).

Confirmation:  While Kol Yeladim prepares our students to become a bar/bat mitzvah, it is important to note that this is not the ultimate goal.  Kol Ami does not feel that this should be an ending, but a beginning.  As such, we use our post-b’nai mitzvah opportunities to reinforce this idea.  Our confirmation class is taught on Sunday mornings prior to the Academy class (10:00-11:00) by the rabbi.  The rabbi works with the students to develop a curriculum suited to their needs and then tackles some very hard ethical concepts. The program is designed at re-affirming participants’ commitment to Judaism and culminates with a special Confirmation service at the end of the school year.
