At Kol Ami, prayer plays a central role in synagogue life. Prayer is simply more than asking God for something, although that is one type of prayer. When we gather to pray we open ourselves to a meeting with the Divine and allow ourselves to become part of a community of like-minded individuals. When we pray, we ask God to look after our needs and the needs of the community We also praise and thank the Creator for all the things we have.
The congregation offers a variety of prayer experiences. In addition to Shabbat evening and morning services, we have a daily evening minyan as well as a Sunday morning minyan. Whether you are saying Kaddish in memory of a loved one or simply looking for a place to “talk to and with God,” Kol Ami is the place for you.
Kol Ami is fully egalitarian, with men and women counting in the minyan, reading Torah and Haftarah, and leading services.
