Children & Youth

Bim Bam Shabbat is a special age-appropriate service for children Pre-K to 2nd grade. These services meet at 10:30 a.m. in the Jaffe Board Room one Saturday a month throughout the school year and are geared for our younger congregants.  All participants will be escorted back to the main sanctuary in time for our closing prayers and Kiddush. Parents are welcome to stay with their children. If there are any children younger than pre-K age, they are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.  The dates of these services are posted in the monthly bulletin (Chai Lites) on our calendar.

Kiddie Kabbalat is a great opportunity for parents and young children to enjoy the experience of Shabbat songs and stories together. If you have a preschool age child (ages 2-5), please join us for an hour of singing, dancing, storytelling, lighting candles and more, as we all welcome in Shabbat together.  Older siblings are also invited and encouraged to attend.  This is a family hour, and we want all members of the family to join together and enjoy Shabbat.  Kiddie Kabbalat takes place one Friday night a month at 6:30 p.m. throughout the school year. Dates are posted in Chai Lites and on our calendar.

Junior Congregation occurs monthly in the Chapel.  Our young people have the opportunity to lead services, take part in Torah dramatics, and sing Shabbat songs.  There are two services offered, K through 2nd grade and 3rd through 7th grades. The Junior Congregation schedule is posted in Chai Lites and on our calendar.

Family Shabbat is held one Friday night a month (usually the first). On this evening we have our family Shabbat service, which stresses music and congregational singing. We utilize guitar and other acoustic instruments to enhance the ruah of these services. Children of all ages — 9 months to 90 years — get caught up in the joyful nature of our songs and prayers.  Family Shabbat dates are posted in Chai Lites and on our calendar.
