Congregation Kol Ami recognizes the importance of our youth to the future of Judaism. Our young people are encouraged to be active participants in all aspects of our congregation. We currently sponsor four youth groups for young people in grades K through 12. Through a balanced program of social, educational, religious, and cultural activities we seek to develop within our youth a strong Jewish identity and connection with Kol Ami. Our Director of Education, our Youth Director, our Youth Advisors, and our Youth Committee are responsible for planning and implementing programs throughout the year. We are proud members of United Synagogue Youth International (USY), the youth organization sponsored by the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, and of Hanegev, the Southeastern region of USY. You can fill out your application here to join Boneem, Kadima or USY.
In our Chaverim program, our kindergarten - second grade students get a taste of the youth group experience. Once a month, usually on a Sunday afternoon, our Chaverim students, together with their parents, enjoy an exciting outing. They may go bowling, roller skating, pottery painting or even exploring the Florida Aquarium. We are always looking for new ideas. Let us know what you would like to do!
Our third-fifth graders enjoy monthly activities, usually on Sunday afternoons. In Boneem, our main goal is to build community. Students spend time together in a variety of programs, including rock-climbing, ice skating, MOSI, movies and much more! They always have a great time as they try different activities while reconnecting with existing friends and making new friends. Our Boneemers anxiously anticipate each event. They are always ready to ask one important question: "What are we doing next?"
With our Kadima group, middle schoolers get together once or twice a month, on either Sunday afternoons or Saturday evenings. Kadimaniks all have the opportunity to share ideas and help plan programs, giving us the chance to offer a wide variety of options to meet every ones needs.
Their youth advisor and youth director work with the students to implement their programs. Our exciting chapter programs may include sleeping over at our annual lock-in, playing laser tag, painting, going water-biking and more!
In addition to our many exciting chapter activities, we get the chance to spend time with other area chapters. Through multi-chapter events, sub-regional and regional activities such as Disney Day, Adventure Island Day and our annual Kadima convention, we have the chance to make friends throughout Tampa Bay, Florida and the entire Southeast.
Our USY chapter, better known as KAUSY, is a thriving group for high schoolers, with programs or get-togethers up to two to three times a month. We are active on a regional level, with strong participation in conventions and multi-chapter events, including those hosted by us! Our student-led USY board develops leadership skills while planning exciting programming in conjunction with the Youth Director and USY advisor.
Our programming is diverse. We offer social and community building activities, as well as religious & cultural events. We also take part in Tikkun Olam (a commitment to repairing a broken world) and Social Action. We invite you to join us, whether it is for a night at the movies, a bonfire or our annual Give Kids The World retreat.
