KOL YELADIM RELIGIOUS SCHOOL

The Kol Yeladim Religious School, our program for grades PreK through 7, is an engaging and interactive program. Our students enjoy learning with us while we help them build a solid foundation for a meaningful Jewish life. Through our focus on creating community, we help our students feel connected – to their schoolmates, to their synagogue, and to Judaism.

Our well-rounded curriculum is based on seven main subject areas: T’fillot (prayers), Torah and History, Israel, Jewish Values and Ethics, Jewish Identity, Holidays, and Hebrew Language. Lesson plans are creative and dynamic, with an emphasis on meeting the needs of individual students.

At Kol Yeladim, we incorporate many specialty activities in our religious school day:

T’fillot – Our teachers are well versed in our prayer services and use our Shabbat prayers to help teach the Hebrew language.  On Wednesdays, we open each school session with a brief but lively prayer session with our Rabbi. During this session, students enthusiastically raise their hands to comment on the Rabbi’s teachings or to choose who gets to lead which prayer, making this a great way for us to start each day.

Chuggim – Every Sunday, each class attends a 30-minute special activity session. This activity might be art, drama, cooking, Israeli games, holiday ritual, or even a science café. Sometime we include time in the Library to foster a love for reading and their Jewish identity. The activities vary week-to-week, keeping our students guessing, “what will we get to do next?”

Ask-the-Rabbi – About 1-2 times each month, we are fortunate to have the Rabbi visit our individual classrooms to answer any questions the students might have. Students eagerly prepare for these sessions by writing and storing questions in the days leading up to their visits with the Rabbi.

Special Programs – In addition to our weekly activities, we enjoy many special activities throughout the school year. These include:

  • Holiday-Related Programs
    • Pizza in the Sukkah
    • A Hanukkah Party
    • Tu B'Shevat Seder
    • Hamentaschen Baking with Sisterhood
