Rabbi Tucker's Presentations
I. Friday Night, March 29: 6:00 pm
“Covenant, Land, Power and Responsibility”
In times of crisis, when the future is uncertain, it is vital to return to our basic narratives and values. In this session, we will explore sources, framing and reflection on contemporary questions of Jewish power and the land of Israel. We will aim to rediscover basic truths, open old questions, and offer pathways forward for understanding Jewish power, covenant, and sovereignty in this moment.
II. Shabbat Morning, March 30: 9:30 am
“Viewing the Exodus Narrative Through Today’s Lens”
With Passover fast approaching during this tumultuous time in our collective Jewish experience, Rabbi Tucker will help us revisit the story of the Exodus from Egypt. Is this a story of pure good against pure evil? Or were there wicked Israelites and righteous Egyptians? How can we see the full complexity of this story while retaining moral clarity on this foundational moment in Jewish history? Can our method help us with our contemporary moment of Jewish history as well?
A discussion of this topic will continue following Kiddush luncheon.
III. Saturday evening, March 30: 7:00 pm
“Our Captive Heritage”
Rabbi Tucker will discuss his article which appeared in a special edition of the journal Sapir from October 2023-January 2024. A link to this article can be found HERE. The article is topical and moving, and ends with the thought that “Jews, who unfortunately have millennia of experience of our people being held captive, should be the loudest in leading the international chorus (for immediate and unconditional release). Our tradition insists we act responsibly, but with maximum urgency. Bring them home now”
